Multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer and producer of spiritual and devotional music Tammo Heikens aka “Shambo” has an unparralleled approach to the healing essence of music.
He is a highly respected accompanist of many vocalists in the realm of spiritual music world wide and at the same time excels as a solo performer of classical Indian music on the sitar.
Although he has received a thorough and traditional training in North Indian (Hindustani) music from some of the most acclaimed masters like Budhaditya Mukherjee and Hariprasad Chaurasia (to name a few) he has evolved a very personal style that truly redefines the whole concept of eclecticism.
In that way he has become like a musical chameleon with the ability to telepatically connect with his fellow musicians and his audience as well.
In 1985 he graduated as a Naturopatic healer and wrote a thesis on the healing properties of singing, after doing indepth research and experimentation on the subject.
In 1999 he was the first sitar-player outside of India to receive a master’s degree in North Indian classical music at the Indian departement of the Rotterdam consevatory.
Based in the Netherlands Shambo has been performing in most European countries as well as oversees and had the honour to receive many brilliant international musicians in his own recording studio (Studio 108)
He is a teacher in sitar and other stringed instruments and gave masterclasses at several conservatories.
